Website Accessibility
It is the policy of the City of Florence that information and services on www.cityofflorence.com be designed to be accessible to people with disabilities.
We are striving to ensure that the information available on the website is accessible to all. Our goal is to deliver a web experience that complies with the ADA Section 508 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
All reasonable efforts will be made by the City to accommodate special needs of individuals as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act. This is being done through rigorous research on standards and guidelines put forth by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Accessibility Initiative.
Some of the key requirements are as follows:
- Text will be provided for graphic elements
- Web pages will be designed so that all information conveyed with color is also available without color, and text may be easily sized to meet the user’s sight requirements.
- Online electronic forms will allow people using assistive technology to access the information, field elements, and functions required to complete and submit the forms.
The use of the City’s accessibility guidelines will ensure that web sites are developed to serve the largest possible audience. Compliance with these guidelines provides an added benefit to those users with text-based browsers, low-end processors, slow modem connections and/or no multi-media capabilities on their computer.
If you experience any difficulty accessing content, please contact us and we will get back to you to make sure your needs are served. It would be helpful if you can be as specific as possible when describing the information you seek or the problem you encountered. We will work with you to provide the information in an alternative format.
Individuals with disabilities requiring an accommodation beyond those already provided at the web portal, should contact us with a brief description of the accommodations required.
