FLORENCE, SC – The City of Florence Fire Department will begin annual hydrant testing on March 1, 2025, to ensure our hydrants are functioning properly and ready for firefighting and emergency use. Testing is expected to be completed by May 1, 2025.

In districts 2 & 4, flow testing will be conducted, which measures the water flow rate from hydrants to assess available water for firefighting, sprinklers, and domestic use. In other districts, fire department staff will conduct static pressure readings, which checks water pressure when no water is flowing to ensure reliability. Please refer to the map below to identify the City of Florence fire districts.

During testing, City of Florence customers may experience low water pressure in your area. Crews will carefully manage the hydrant flow after testing to minimize the potential for discoloration which can occasionally result from iron and mineral deposits being stirred up during the testing process.

We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the safety of our community!

If you have any questions concerning this notice, please call the City of Florence Fire Department at (843) 665-3231.
