FLORENCE, SC – The City of Florence would like to notify customers of a scheduled water service interruption impacting the 3300–3900 blocks of Meadors Road, Spring Branch Mobile Home Park, West Pointe Drive, Trotwood Drive, Deshamps Drive, Boulder Drive, and Swamp Fox Campground. Water service will be interrupted beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17th, and is expected to last no longer than four hours for utility crews to complete the relocation of a system fire hydrant.
Once water service resumes, the lines will be flushed, which may cause temporary discoloration for customers in this area. Affected customers might also notice trapped air in the plumbing, which will be released as water is used. Due to the temporary shutoff and loss of pressure in this area, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) requires the City of Florence to issue a boil water advisory as a precaution when there is a possibility of bacteria entering the water system. Once water service resumes, all customers in this area should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking until further notice from the City of Florence. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The boil water advisory is a precautionary measure to protect public health until test results confirm that the water is safe to drink. Because the water quality will be unknown at the time of resumed service, customers are urged to take appropriate precautions. Test results for bacteriological quality are expected to be completed by Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at which time the City of Florence will update customers on the status of the boil water advisory.
If you have any questions regarding this notice, please call the City of Florence at (843) 665-3236.
