Rob Hill: Championing Tennis Growth and Excellence as Florence's Director of Tennis
Congratulations to Rob Hill who was named Tennis Professional of the Year.
Rob Hill, a USPTA Teaching Professional, has dedicated over a decade to his role as the City of Florence's Director of Tennis. He oversees 45 tennis courts at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, as well as three other public parks, managing a team of eight full- and part-time staff members and up to nine contract professionals. In addition to his leadership, Rob organizes numerous tournaments and events, collaborating with other professionals and the Florence Tennis Association to host additional competitions. As a teaching professional, he offers a wide range of lessons and clinics, while also mentoring fellow pros on a daily basis.
Under Rob's leadership, the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center earned the USTA Outstanding Tennis Facility Award in 2022 and was named a USTA Premier Facility in 2023. His strong partnerships with the local CTA and NJTL Chapter, along with his deep sense of community, played a crucial role in the Florence Recreation Department's receipt of the first-ever USTA Southern Outstanding Parks and Recreation Department Award in 2023.
Rob is passionate about promoting the USTA mission and incorporates USTA teaching methods into all of his classes. He is dedicated to attracting new players to the sport and retaining existing ones, encouraging his staff and contract pros to do the same. The warm, welcoming environment at the Tennis Center reflects his unwavering commitment to growing the sport of tennis and fostering healthier communities.
