Thanksgiving Holiday:
City offices will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Sanitation will run normal garbage and recycling routes. No yard waste will be collected.
As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to take a moment to recognize the hard work of our sanitation workers. This year, our sanitation employees have unanimously chosen to operate regular garbage and recycling routes on their Thanksgiving holidays (November 28-29, 2024). By working on these days, they help avoid heavier collection loads in the days that follow. If services were postponed, it would lead to increased waste accumulation and longer collection times, making it much more challenging for the team to catch up.
Please make sure your roll cart and recycling bins are at the curb for collection on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. Note that there will be NO yard waste collection during these routes.
We’ve received feedback from customers concerned about sanitation employees working on holidays while city offices are closed. We appreciate your concern but want to clarify that these employees made the choice to work on the holiday. Additionally, many other city employees in police, fire, public works, and utilities will also be working or on call throughout the holidays.
We are grateful for the commitment of our employees and recognize the sacrifices they make for our community. Thank you for your understanding and support!
