City Note

Wednesday, October 3 marked a heartbreaking day for the City of Florence and their families and friends. One week later and our hearts remain heavy, but we greatly appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love and support as we remain #FlorenceStrong and continue the healing process.

Following funeral services on Monday afternoon, local restaurant owners came together to provide a meal for the Carraway Family, the City of Florence Police Department as well as the many Police Department representatives that attended from across the country.  A special thank you to Jackie Travis and Kyle Hardee for organizing this event and thank you to the following restaurants for giving of their time and resources to provide this delicious meal:  Wholly Smokin', Tubbs, King Jefe, Julia Belle's Lobster Express, Coast Line Cafe', Rogers BBQ, Redbone Alley, Victor's, Chili's, Percy & Willies, Icing Ink, Stefanos, Cibo's and Rebel Pie.  We would also like to thank the following businesses who also contributed and made the meal possible:  The Florence Center, Pepsi, IGA, Wal-Mart/Sam's Club, Sysco Foods, and Hyman Paper Products.

Police and employee support services continue to be coordinated by the City of Florence Human Resources Division, 843-665-3158.

Donations for the affected families can be made at any Pee Dee First Citizens Bank branch.  These donations should be directed to the City of Florence Police Benevolent Fund and can be earmarked for specific families.  Online contributions can be made here ---> Police Emergency Assistance Fund
